ასე დაიწყო

შავი ზღვის ჯაზ ფესტივალის ამბავი 2007 წლიდან იწყება. იმ დროიდან, როცა წარმოუდგენელი იყო პატარა ზღვისპირა ქალაქში, მწირე რესურსებით, ტექნიკური შესაძლებლობებითა და გასამართი ინფრასტრუქტურით რაიმე მასშტაბური ღონისძიების გამართვა. 

თუმცა, მანამდე, ათი წლის განმავლობაში, თბილისის ჯაზ ფესტივალზე მიღებული გამოცდილება და შესაბამისად, გაბედულებაც, საკმარისი აღმოჩნდა, რომ Eastern Promotion-ის გუნდს ჯაზის დღესასწაულის არეალი არამარტო გაეფართოებინა, არამედ, რეგიონში, ერთ-ერთ ყველაზე მასშტაბურ მოვლენად გადაექცია. 

თუ პატარა ქვეყნის პატარა ქალაქში, ჯაზ ფესტივალი უკვე მეთხუთმეტედ კრებს ათასობით მელომანს უნიკლაური გამოცდილების გასაზიარებლად, ესე იგი, უკვე მთელ მიმდინარეობასთან გვავქვს საქმე, რაც როგორც მსმენელის, ისე ორგანიზატორებისა და ორივე ამ კომპონენტით მოხიბლული შემსრულებლის დამსახურებაა. მათი მცდელობა რომ არა, დაწყებული ჯერ კიდევ 90-იან წლებში (“ისთერნ ფრომოუშენ”-ის დაარსებამდე, ჯაზთან უშუალო შეხება საბჭოთა საქართველოში 1962 წელს, ბენი გუდმანის ჩამოსვლით დაიწყო)  მუსიკის ეს ჟანრი ალბათ ბევრისთვის მხოლოდ ბავშვობის მოგონებად დარჩებოდა, ასოცირებული რეტრო მულტფილმებსა, თუ შავ-თეთრი ფილმების მუსიკალურ გაფორმებასთან. 

ინტეგრაცია

თიბისი კონცეპტის (2020 წლამდე - თისბისი სტატუსის) ფარგლებში, ფესტივალთან თანამშრომლობა 2011 წლიდან დაიწყო. თანაშემოქმედებას არა მხოლოდ ფესტივალის პრესტიჟისა და მსმენელთა დაინტერესების ზრდამ უბიძგა, არამედ უშუალოდ იმ ფილოსოფიამ, რაც ჯაზსა და თიბისის გუნდს აერთიანებს, იქნება ეს თავისუფლებისა და იმპროვიზაციის უნარი, რომელიც დიდი შრომის შედეგად მიიღწევა, აღმოჩენები და ინოვაცია, რასაც თანამედროვე გამოწვევები ითხოვს, თითოეული ხმისა და გუნდის წევრის თანაბარი მნიშვნელობა, თუ განსაკუთრებული მოსმენის უნარი. შეუფასებელია ის ფაქტი, რომ საქართველო ჯაზის მსოფლიო რუკაზეც ღირსეულად დაფიქსირდებოდა. 

თიბისი დიდ მნიშვნელობას ანიჭებს ყველა იმ ღონისძიების თვისობრივ შემადგენელს, რომელთანაც ის ასოცირდება. დღეისათვის, ჯაზ ფესტივალი საქართველოში წარმოუდგენელია თიბისი კონცეპტის გარეშე. შესაბამისად, თიბისიც იმ მუხტით აღიქმება, რასაც ჯაზი ატარებს.

მაინც რა არის ჯაზი? - მუსიკაა, მთელი ცხოვრებაა, არსებითი, ხანდახან ზედსართავი სახელია,  ცხოვრების სტილია ჯაზია, ალბათ, როცა ცნობიერ და არაცნობიერ გამოცდილებას ერთ მექანიზმად აამუშავებ უწყვეტ იმპროვიზაციაში გადასაშვებად, ყველა უჯრედით გრძნობ სიცოცხლეს და იმდენად ივსები ემოციებით, აღმოჩენებითა და თავისუფლებით, რომ გადამდებიც ხდები და სხვებსაც იყოლიებ. 

სხვების ასაყოლიებლად კი, თიბისი კონცეპტი ხელს უწყობს, ერთი მხრივ, ფესტივალის პოპულარიზებას, ბრენდინგის უზრუნველყოფით და ინფორმაციის გავრცელებით მის განკარგულებაში არსებულ ყველა პლატფორმაზე (სტატიების, ექსკლუზიური ფოტო-ვიდეო მასალისა, თუ შემსრულებელთა წარდგენის სახით), ხოლო მეორე მხრივ - მაქსიმალურად სასიამოვნო გახადოს მსმენელის გამოცდილება, დაწყებული ფესტივალზე დასასწრები ბილეთების ხელმისაწვდომ ფასში შეძენით, გაგრძელებული ჯაზ მატარებლით მგზავრობით და დასრულებული თავშესაქცევი აქტივობით უშუალოდ ღონისძიების ტერიტორიაზე. ხოლო მათთვის, ვინც ფესტივალზე ვერ ესწრება, თიბისი უზრუნველყოფს მთავარი გამომსვლელების “ლაივ” ჩართვებს, ე.წ. ჰედლაინერების კონცერტებიდან.

თიბისი კონცეპტის მომხმარებლების სურვილი, ყოველწლიურად დაესწრონ კონცერტებს და გაიზიარონ უნიკალური გამოცდილება, განაპირობებს თიბისის გუნდის სურვილსა და მოტივაციასაც, ყოველ წელს უფრო და უფრო მრავალფეროვანი ფესტივალი შესთავაზოს სტუმრებს.

ჯაზ მატარებელი

წელს, თიბისის ჯაზ მატარებელი, ექსკლუზიურად თიბისი კონცეპტის მომხმარებლისთვის, საქართველოს რკინიგზის დახმარებით, ისევ აგუგუნდება და ტრადიციულად, თბილისის სადგურიდანვე შეიქმნება საფესტივალო განწყობა - ერთგვარი ჯაზ-თავგადასავლის პროლოგი. აქ, მასლაათების დროც დგება წარსული კონცერტებიდან მნიშვნელოვანი სახელებისა, თუ აღმოჩენების  გახსენებით. საზეიმო განწყობაზე კი მუსიკოსები ერეკლე გეწაძე და ელენე კალანდაძე “live”-ში იზრუნებენ. 

ბათუმის მეტამორფოზა

საფესტივალო დღეებში, და არა მხოლოდ, ბათუმი მეტამორფოზას განიცდის და რამდენიმე დღით, შავი ზღვის სანაპიროს მუსიკალურ დედაქალაქად გადაიქცევა. მსმენელთა მოზღვავების შედეგად, მხოლოდ საცალო ვაჭრობა მინიმუმ 4-ჯერ იზრდება. ყველა კაფე-ბარი, რესტორანი, თუ მაღაზია სრული დატვირთვით მუშაობს და იქმნება ერთგვარი მიკრო ეკონომიკა. პარალელურად, ეწყობა დამატებითი გასართობი, თუ შემეცნებითი ღონისძიებები და გამოფენები. ვითარდება ბიზნესის, ინფრასტრუქტურისა და დასაქმების სექტორები, ივსება ყველა სასტუმრო, თუ სახლი, ქალაქი ფუსფუსებს, ლამაზდება და ყველა სტუმარს ამახსოვრებს თავს. თუმცა, გასათვალისწინებელია საფესტივალო რეალობის უარყოფითი ფაქტორებიც, რომელიც გადატვირთული გზებიდან და რიგებიდან გამომდინარეობს. 

სტუმრები

ორგანიზატორების თქმით, შავი ზღვის ჯაზ ფესტივალმა იმდენად გაითქვა სახელი ჯაზ მესვეურებში, რომ ადვილად ითანხმებენ მსოფლიო დონის ვარსკვლავებს სტუმრობაზე. მეტიც - თუ რომელიმეს მოწვევა ვერ ხერხდება ამა თუ იმ მიზეზის გამო, შეიძლება წყენაც გამოთქვან. ამასობაში, ბათუმს ისეთი მაღალი სინჯის შემსრულებლები ეწვივნენ, როგორიცაა: ლორენ ჰილი, Jamiroquai, Incognto, კრის ბოტი, მარკუს მილერი, ერიკა ბადუ, მეისი გრეი, Kool & The Gang, დაიანა კროლი, სნუპ დოგი, ჯოს სტოუნი, The Prodigy, ქუინსი ჯონსი, ბასტა რაიმსი, De La Soul. ვარსკვლავები, რომლებიც სუნთქვისშემკვრელ, გენიალურ, დახვეწილ და არც ერთი საქებარი ეპითეტი რომ არ დაგენანება, ისეთ წარმოდგენას ატარებენ მსმენელისთვის.

ყოველი საღამო, გართობასთან ერთად, ბევრისთვის შემეცნებითი გამხდარა. თითოეულმა გამომსვლელმა მსმენელს ემოციებთან ერთად მსოფლიო მუსიკის, განსაკუთრებით კი ჯაზის მრავალფეროვნება დაანახა. ისეთი ჯაზის, თავის თავში დასავლეთ აფრიკის გათავისუფლებული მონების სულსაც რომ ინარჩუნებს, მაგრამ, ამავდროულად, აქამდე მოსაღწევ გზაზე გადამხდარ თავგადასავლებზეც ყვება. ჯაზი ყველასთვის ღიაა, მხოლოდ თავად უნდა გაიხსნა მისთვის და იქნებ საკუთარი ფესვებიც აღმოაჩინო. 

ყოველი აქ ჩატარებული საღამო დიდი წარმატების ისტორიაცაა, როგორც სტუმრებისთვის, ისე მასპინძლებისთვის.

How it started

The story of the Black Sea Jazz Festival begins in 2007. From the time when it was unimaginable to hold any large-scale event in a small seaside town with scarce resources, technical capabilities and infrastructure.

However, the experience gained at the Tbilisi Jazz Festival for ten years and, accordingly, the courage was enough for the Eastern Promotion team not only to expand the area of the jazz festival, but also to turn it into one of the largest events in the region.

If the jazz festival in a small town of a small country gathers thousands of music lovers for the fifteenth time to share a unique experience, that means we are already dealing with the whole movement, which is the merit of the audience and the organizers, and the performers fascinated by both of these components. If it wasn't for their efforts, starting back in the 90s (until the founding of "Eastern Promotion", the direct contact with jazz in Soviet Georgia started in 1962, with the arrival of Benny Goodman), this genre of music would probably remain for many only a childhood memory, associated with retro cartoons or black&white movies.

TBC Concept Integration

Cooperation with the festival started in 2011 within the TBC Concept (previously TBC Status). It was motivated not only by the festival’s ever-growing prestige and the audience, but also directly by the philosophy that unites jazz and the TBC team, whether it is about the freedom and the ability to improvise, achieved through hard work, about the discoveries and innovation that modern challenges demand, about each voice and team member that is equally important, or exceptional listening skills. The fact that Georgia would have been decently represented on the world map of jazz is priceless too.

TBC puts great emphasis on the qualitative components of all events with which it is associated. Today, a jazz festival in Georgia is unimaginable without the TBC Concept. On the other hand, TBC is already perceived as carrying those jazz vibes.

What is jazz anyway? - It is music, it is the whole life, it is a noun, sometimes it is an adjective, the style of life. Probably, it is jazz, when you process conscious and unconscious experiences as one mechanism for continuous improvisation, you feel life with each cell and you are so filled with emotions, discoveries, freedom that you become contagious and encourage others.

To encourage others, the TBC Concept promotes, on the one hand, the festival by providing branding and spreading information on all of its platforms (in the form of articles, exclusive photo-video content, or presenting artists), and on the other hand - in order to make the experience of the festival-goers as pleasant as possible, starting with the purchase of tickets at an affordable price, continuing with the trip on the jazz train and ending with fun activities directly on the venue. And for those who cannot attend the festival, TBC provides "live" broadcasts of the headliners.

The desire of the TBC Concept customers to attend the festivals and share a unique experience determines the desire and motivation of the TBC team to offer a more diverse festival to the guests each year.

Jazz Train

This year, the TBC Jazz Train, exclusively for TBC Concept users, will be humming again with the help of Georgian Railways, and traditionally, a festival mood will be created from the Tbilisi station, creating a peculiar prologue to the jazz adventure. Here, it is the time of conversations, meeting like minded music lovers, recalling important names or discoveries from the past festivals. Musicians - Erekle Getsadze and Elene Kalandadze will entertain the travelers and take care of the festive mood that will be broadcasted live on social media.

Metamorphosis of Batumi

During the festival days, and not only, Batumi undergoes a metamorphosis and turns into the musical capital of the Black Sea coast for a few days. As a result of the influx of music lovers, retail sales alone grow at least 4 times. Every cafe-bar, restaurant, or shop is working at full capacity and a certain kind of micro-economy is being created. At the same time, additional entertainment and educational events and exhibitions are taking place. The business, infrastructure and employment sectors are developing, all the hotels and houses-for-rent are full, the city is buzzing, beautifying and making itself memorable for each guest. However, some negative factors of the festival reality, which stem from traffic jams and queues, should also be taken into account.

The Gigs

According to the organizers, the Black Sea Jazz Festival has deserved such trust and, with it - the prestige that the world-class stars are eagerly engaging in negotiations. Moreover, if it was not possible to invite someone for one reason or another, the artists had even expressed their heartbreak over that. Meanwhile, Batumi was visited by such high-profile performers as: Lauren Hill, Jamiroquai, Incognito, Chris Botti, Marcus Miller, Erykah Badu, Macy Gray, Kool & The Gang, Diana Krall, Snoop Dogg, Joss Stone, The Prodigy, Quincy Jones, Busta Rhymes, De La Soul - the stars, all deserving the best of praises.

Together with entertainment, this evening could be somewhat educational for many as each of the performers, while stirring the emotions, showed the diversity of world music, particularly jazz; the jazz that keeps the soul of liberated slaves of West Africa and at the same time tells the stories of adventures it had on its way here... The jazz that is open for everyone... The only thing is that you have to open up yourself to it and maybe, it can even help to discover your own roots too...

Each of the Festival evenings held serves also as a story of a great success both for the guest and for the hosts.

If you have a goal and follow your heart, don’t look back. Rest only when the wizards of your metier start congratulating on your success and celebrating it with you. That’s when you understand that you are on the right path, continuing to walk with a stronger zeal.

The generators of the Black Sea Jazz Festival had the goal too, an unimaginable for many, thus predicting an array of obstacles. Today, they are having their decennial stop to receive the accolades, including the one from the greatest wizards of their industry.
